If you do not yet have a Google account, you will need to create one:

  2. Click ‘Sign in’ in the top right corner of the page.
  3. Click ‘Create an Account Now’.

What does Google have to offer?

A whole suite of Applications available to anyone who creates a Google account...and with NO FEE!
Google is collaborative and allows for the creation of content where the user determines the permissions (whole world can view or edit, invited individuals can view or edit).

Google Apps are based on Collaborative work spaces and sharing content.

Sites

  • Course summary - Teacher creates a Google Site with one page for each student. Each student is assigned a topic to summarize. Great exam study notes created by the students.
  • Students each create own Site to post assignments and projects, creating a Portfolio throughout the course. Site is shared with teacher to allow assessment.
  • Format/presentation of student project
Maps
  • Save directions to 'My Maps' for future use or posting on a Google Site or sharing via email
  • Create a map adding placemarks and descriptions. Share the maps for collaborative/group projects.
Calendar
  • Create calendars to share information between home and school such as due dates, upcoming tests, etc., post on a Google Site
  • Share calendars with individuals for personal or workplace use
